When the for the casting news for the new True Blood character of Kibwe was published it mentioned how his character would be “mainstreaming under Roman’s tenure”. link here: It was speculated that perhaps “Roman” was the character being portrayed by Christopher Meloni.
When it was released that True Blood’s fifth season would feature the former Detective Stabler no name was given for his character. In addition, a casting call was never released for his character.
So much mystery surrounding this “powerful Vampire leader of The Authority”. TVLine stated in their post on the casting of Meloni that ”According to executive producer Alan Ball, the former Law & Order: SVU front man will play, ”An ancient, powerful vampire who holds the fate of Bill and Eric in his hands.” link Thanks to TrueBloodconfidential who noticed this on imdb under Christopher’s filmography it seems we were on the right track:
Yes it does look like Christopher Meloni will be “Roman” on True Blood.
UPDATE: Can’t figure out how to just answer some of the notes to this post so here I go-Re. playing “Devil’s advocate” yes when I first read the casting news for Kibwe I thought they meant “during Roman time”. However-the way it was written “mainstreaming under Roman’s tenure”- the use of the Roman as a possesive noun showed it was referring to an individual not the general “Roman time”. (they used the apostrophe so that was a singular noun).
I hope truly that yes all new casting for “The Authority” will be getting the story back to vampires. Just hope it is not mucked up. I do fear also that Vampire Roman will be in charge of meting out punishment for Eric and Bill! Yes WAITING SUCKS!
My main reaction to this is that I CAN’T WAIT.
Agree…Appius…no, no, no, although at least he wouldn’t be Eric’s maker, but he’d probably still remain an evil, abusive...
An Appius-like vampire in charge…. Eeeeeeek! This could be hilarious. And terrifying. And just … no, terrifying covers...
My thoughts exactly.
Playing Devil’s Advocate…what if Roman isn’t so much a...descriptive title
